Basketball Micro - 110101

Introduces boys and girls to the game basketball. Team play is "full court" 3 on 3 basketball on our "micro court" with 8� 6" baskets offering players a greater opportunity to handle the ball and develop their skills. This program provides and promotes a safe, recreational basketball program for the youth of Ypsilanti Township and its surrounding communities. Micro Basketball encourages good sportsmanship, developing strong playing skills, and promoting friendly relationships among the players, coaches, referees and parents. Basketball Leagues - 110105

Divisions for boys and girls grades 3-6 (2016-2017 school year). Ypsilanti Township Youth Basketball provides and promotes a safe, recreational basketball program for the youth of Ypsilanti Township and its surrounding communities. Futsal Soccer League - 110304

Futsal is soccer played indoors on a gym floor. The program is open to boys and girls ages 7-12 years. Soccer/Futsal Training uses a special low-bounce ball is used and focuses on technical skills, footwork, and speed of play. It helps players think faster and make faster decisions. It is a wonderful game for players that want to have good foot skills and are eager to learn. Futsal meets once a week for 30 minutes of learning and practicing technique followed by a 30 minute game. Dress for Futsal, socks over shin guards, comfortable clothes, shorts or warm ups, and non-marking gym shoes. Futsal soccer balls are provided.

Basketball Camp - 410108

This camp provides the opportunity for your child to train and learn the fundamentals of basketball with others in their age group. Each session will teach the basics of shooting, ball handling, passing, offensive and defensive footwork, positioning and rebounding. Players will develop proper techniques through drills, scrimmages and fitness which will give them confidence in their game.

Soccer Pre-School Fall - 410301

This is a developmentally appropriate introduction to youth soccer. This program prepares children for organized soccer in a fun environment. Preschoolers and their parents are introduced to dribbling, passing, shooting and 3v3 games. Sign up and come ready to play. All parents are also encouraged to come dressed to participate with their child, especially parents of 3 year olds. Players will receive a soccer t-shirt.

Coaches will contact players with program schedule. This program meets on Saturday mornings for 45 minutes, once a week for six weeks. The earliest starting time is 9:00 am. Other starting times scheduled throughout the morning end by 12:00 noon.

Football-Flag - 410401

This is a safe, fun non-contact sport based on NFL flag football rules. Children are placed on teams within their age group. Players receive a football shirt. Players must wear turf shoes or gym shoes. Mouth guards are required for games and practices.

Coaches will contact players with practice and game schedules. Practices begin the week of September 11. Teams play 6 game and typically meet for practice once during the week.

Start Smart Basketball - 411001

This program teaches the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents. The focus is on teaching children and their parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Held once a week for six weeks, the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and the children show improvement. All children get to keep their participant kit which includes a soft-bounce basketball and mini basketball, four cones, a jersey and participant's manual. A Mandatory Parent Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 6:00-7:00pm at the Community Center.

Pre-Ballet & Creative Movement - 430101

Pre-Ballet & Creative Movement Classes include concepts that are found in an older child's dance class. The goals are to foster creativity, freedom of expression in movement, and a love for dance, while building a strong foundation to prepare the students for the next level of dance. Ballet technique, vocabulary, strength and flexibility will be developed through the format of a traditional ballet class, beginning with exercises at the barre, moving into center work and finishing with movements across the floor. Competition Pom - 430408

Students must have taken at least one year of dance. Choreography becomes a priority with a strong emphasis placed on proper technique, dance vocabulary, muscle memory, strength and flexibility. Students must audition on August 29th and instructor will place students. All competition students must enroll in at least one other dance technique class.

Required: Please see instructor for shoes required, tight fitting clothing (tank top, leotard, capri yoga/dance pants, jazz pants, etc.).

Tap & Jazz II/III - 430451

Students learn to create rhythms with their feet. Classes focus on the development of a sharpened sense of rhythm, coordination, and clarity of sounds. These are incorporated in warmups, rhythm sequences, and movements across the floor. Required: black tap shoes.
Jazz is high energy and based on classical techniques layered with stylistic jazz movement. Students warm up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, and "across the floor" exercises including turns and leaps. We'll incorporate a combination that is usually fast paced, rhythmically based and danced to traditional jazz music and uplifting popular music. Jazz is a great discipline to help a dancer discover the joy of moving. Required: black jazz shoes.
Level II - It is recommended that students have taken at least one year at Level I and have mastered the basic steps, technique, and vocabulary. Dance steps become more complicated in Level II.
Level III - These students have mastered steps, techniques, and vocabulary from Level II. Intermediate and advanced classes move at a much faster pace than Level I and Level II. If students are younger than 13 please consult with the instructor before registering.
