Basketball Micro - 110101

Introduces boys and girls to the game basketball. Team play is "full court" 3 on 3 basketball on our "micro court" with 8� 6" baskets offering players a greater opportunity to handle the ball and develop their skills. This program provides and promotes a safe, recreational basketball program for the youth of Ypsilanti Township and its surrounding communities. Micro Basketball encourages good sportsmanship, developing strong playing skills, and promoting friendly relationships among the players, coaches, referees and parents. Practices begin the week of January 23. Coaches will contact players with practice schedule. 6 games + practices SATURDAY GAMES 3PM - 6PM

Basketball Leagues - 110105

Divisions for boys and girls grades 3-6 (2016-2017 school year). Ypsilanti Township Youth Basketball provides and promotes a safe, recreational basketball program for the youth of Ypsilanti Township and its surrounding communities. This program encourages good sportsmanship, developing strong playing skills, and promoting friendly relationships among the players, coaches, referees and parents.

Soccer/Futsal Training - 110304

Futsal is soccer played indoors on a gym floor. The program is open to boys and girls ages 7-12 years. Soccer/Futsal Training uses a special low-bounce ball is used and focuses on technical skills, footwork, and speed of play. It helps players think faster and make faster decisions. It is a wonderful game for players that want to have good foot skills and are eager to learn. Futsal meets once a week for 30 minutes of learning and practicing technique followed by a 30 minute game. Dress for Futsal, socks over shin guards, comfortable clothes, shorts or warm ups, and non-marking gym shoes. Futsal soccer balls are provided.

Homeschool Youth Dance - 131701

Jazz & Ballet - This class combines both Jazz & Ballet. Students learn technique, vocabulary, strength, and flexibility, which is developed through the format of a traditional ballet class; beginning with exercises at the barre, moving into center work and finishing with movements across the floor. We'll incorporate Jazz techniques and a combination that is usually fast-paced, rhythmically-based, and dance to uplifting popular music.

Required: dance tights, solid colored leotard, and pink leather or canvas ballet slippers, hair pulled back. (Ballet shoes will be worn for both Jazz and Ballet.)

Exploration of Art: K-2 Grade Homeschool - 150615

Students will spend an hour exploring color, form, texture, and pattern with different art media from painting with tempera, drawing with color pencils to creating with pastels. Each week will be a different adventure in the art world. All projects were created for this age group by Tina Hotchkiss.

Do you want to add excitement to your artwork? This class is for you. Students will learn how to put energy in the marks they make to create shapes and forms. Scribble is an art form like no other, and when developed, will express feeling. During the first session, students will explore in black and white while using Graphite and pen/ink. In the second session, color pencil will be the focus.

Learn the fundamentals of drawing with pastels in fun relaxing atmosphere. Class will include instructional demos, time to for student to practice skills and instructor's feedback on work. Supplies students will bring to class are professional grade soft pastels or if a beginner, a set of Nupastel by Prismacolor and Pastel sanded paper. Workshop w/ Carolyn Weins - 162315

All levels are welcome as we explore ways to make the most of pastels. The impact of underpaintings and layering colors will be explored. There will be a demonstration, time to work independently, individual help from the instructor, and group critique. Participants should bring their supplies and a bag lunch. Basketball Camp - 410108

This camp provides the opportunity for your child to train and learn the fundamentals of basketball with others in their age group. Each session will teach the basics of shooting, ball handling, passing, offensive and defensive footwork, positioning and rebounding. Start Smart Basketball - 411001

This program teaches the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents. The focus is on teaching children and their parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Held once a week for six weeks, the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and the children show improvement. All children get to keep their participant kit which includes a soft-bounce basketball and mini basketball, four cones, a jersey and participant's manual. A Mandatory Parent Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 6:00-7:00pm at the Community Center.

These leagues offer a great cardiovascular workout, the excitement of competition, and an opportunity to meet new friends. While competitive, this user friendly program provides the flexibility to work around your busy schedule. One match per week is scheduled. You pick the day and time! Leagues are offered for both men and women and will be formed based on skill levels for the ultimate in balanced competition. Please indicate if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced player when registering. This popular program guarantees a minimum of ten matches, awards for 1st and 2nd place and a shirt.
